Introducing Foona!

Founded in 2006, foona! resulted from an excruciatingly long period of repetitive indecisiveness when eating out; something many suffer from quite frequently.

Its inception was also encouraged by the lack of alternative information resources available to the outgoing population of Islamabad in the form of a directory service (such as 17 PTCL directory assistance, which is out-dated).

The word ‘foona’ was derived from a fusion of the words food and khana (meaning food in Urdu). Deciding the name was essentially one of the most time consuming elements of bringing this project together, simply because a catchy name that is unique, yet easy to remember is imperative.

Essentially, Foona intends to serve multiple purposes which will hopefully be expanded as the project develops while in service. Firstly, as a search engine with a directory listing of all the food outlets in Islamabad , it will be a central source of information. Secondly, Foona will create an environment for consumers to interact with a trustworthy rating and review system that will be completely community driven.

The review system that we will introduce will be the lifeline of this mechanism, creating a method of trust and accountability between the consumer and the business.

You may not believe it, but there are over a 100 restaurants in Islamabad alone, many of which people such as you would not have heard of. We endeavor not to be biased towards any restaurant as we believe all businesses should prosper.

With Foona, we anticipate the feedback from the users of the website will not only ensure its purpose and survival, but also reinforce a system of quality control monitored by all patrons of the restaurant industry. The purpose is to ensure the highest standards and expectations are met, especially by those who demand it; moreover it will introduce standards and ideals that may help elevate the current level of quality.

We realize that all restaurants may not be listed, so we anticipate user feedback to be essential for expanding the database by revisiting our site and informing us of any additional places we may have left out.

Services of Foona

We believe the success of Foona is dependent upon how comprehensive, user-friendly and attractive the website itself will be. Since there is no such database that exists with a sole dedication to the food industry, this in itself will be a valuable head start; allowing us a handicap period to understand the market with this new product.

People in Islamabad constantly have difficulty finding a place to indulge their appetites in, since there is no central source of information available for constructive decision making. Our comprehensive coverage of various factors considered when choosing a destination for a meal or even just a simple cup of coffee will come tremendously handy.

Since Foona will also come in a published format soon, there will be a print version clients can keep laying around if the internet is not very convenient or available. The information printed in the publication will be based on survey data gathered from restaurant goers who visit Foona to learn information and provide feedback.

Consistent interaction between restaurants and consumers will ensure the livelihood of this service. The reputation established by returning visitors will help build confidence amongst the unique and infrequent visitors to help grow and strengthen the community. Kudos to those who review by habit will help determine accurate and credible ratings accredited to a food outlet.

As stated in our privacy policy, we may retrieve certain personal information for record keeping and tracking our visitors for statistical and marketing purposes only. Your privacy is safe with us and we shall not sell or rent any information without the consent of the party in question.

We thank you for your patronage; your constant re-visitations ensure our quality and desire to continue serving you.
